New Xylo Awaits

Xylo, the new car launched by Mahindra & Mahindra is creating waves in the auto market. With excellent reviews so far, this car is without doubt one of the finest ones manufactured by Mahindra & Mahindra.

With the success of this new car, M&M are now looking to incorporate some changes, one of them being the installation of the new micro hybrid system in them. This micro hybrid system is now being used in a lot of four wheelers. If the vehicle is not on move, this system keeps the engine in the switched off mode and makes it go into hibernation. A slight pressure on the accelerator brings the engine back from its hibernation mode. The advantage of this system is that one need not have to switch on and off his engines all the time while driving.

One may wonder as to why M&M are looking to install this system in their new car. People these days are becoming callous in the use of petrol and diesel and they hardly remember to switch off their engines at signals. This micro hybrid system will help save not only the fuel but keep the environment less polluted than it already is. The other cars which are using this system are Scorpio and Bolero.

It was mentioned by Pawan Goenka, the M&M president of the automotive and farm equipment that Xylo isn't the first M&M car to have this system installed. Both Scorpio and Bolero are currently employing this system.

The micro hybrid version of the car will be available to the customers before the year end. The year of 2011 will see a few electric cars enter the market like Reva NXR and NXG. M&M are pretty cautious upon their future action when the car comes into use by the people.

Toyota Etios in India

December 1, 2010 was the day Toyota, the world's largest auto maker, launched the Etios sedan in Bangalore, India which followed by Etios hatchback in March 2011.

Sales of Toyota Etios petrol sedans would commence from December and the cars are expected to be delivered to customers by January 2011. Etios sedan cost at range of at a Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 7 lakh price tag. Toyota Etios compete with the Tata Indigo CS, Maruti Swift Dzire, Tata Indigo Manza, Chevrolet Aveo and the Ford Fiesta. Toyota holds a tremendous brand recognition and reputation in India. Managing Director of Toyota India, Hiroshi Nakagawa said that Etios sedan will also compete against Maruti Swift, Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai i20. Toyota Etios have equipment levels and interior comfort at par or more than that of the competition. Toyota studied that Indian customers are cost conscious, and will localize almost 70% of the components in the Etios but of course, it will not compromise on quality and safety. They have been running ‘Toyota Q Promise' advertising campaign in India, to build up the launch of the petrol Etios sedan. Last year, Toyota launched the Fortuner and created quite a stir in the 4×4 premium SUV segment. The company, in fact, had underestimated demand for the SUV, leading to huge production backlogs, as demand exceeded supply. Learning from that experience, they are now ready to launch the new Etios and it will be a large volume of products. The brand ambassador of this is the Indian film music composer A.R. Rahman as part of their marketing strategy. Toyota is investing Rs. 3,200 crore in the production and marketing of the Etios. In addition to the sales in India, the car, which is Toyota's biggest project, the car will roll out of the Bangalore plant and will also be offered for sale in China, Russia and South America. The company already has Toyota Corolla, Toyota Innova, Toyota Camry and Toyota Innova along with newly launched SUV, Toyota Fortuner, in its portfolio.
